JP's top ten images from 2008
Read on to find out what made the list and the stories behind the images
This Photo of Cob was shot at the world famous Post Office jumps in Aptos, CA. Post office recently got some much needed attention from the riders, not with their bikes but their shovels. Cob is not afraid to get his hands dirty, putting in his due time plus some at the post office as well as building the sickest back yard jumps I have ever seen! I did not ask Cob to throw this table, he just rides with this much style everyday!

Jack Folgelquist flipping in Cobs back yard. The first time Jack flipped this jump on this day I was sitting between the lip and landing, I was doing some set up on my camera and I hear the sound of tires flying off the lip. I look up and Jack's head is where his tires are meant to be. Needless to say I nearly crapped myself! From then on I made Jack tell me before he was dropping in. Jack was riding really well that day and flipped and spun this a hand full of times.

This is the infamous IGZ if you ask Mods and the famous IGZ if you ask anyone else. Igz is a good guy that has put a lot of time digging into Cobs back yard and this jump. Igz has great style on every jump and this one is no exception.

I don't think I need to tell you who this is. You see him in the movies and at all the big contest, yes this is Cam McCaul. It is good to see Cam at his home riding area, the Post Office Jumps, and he shows he needs no reminder on how they flow. Cam is a blast to hang out with and shoot.

If you do not know who this is, you need too. His name is Ryan Howard, he is the Post Office trail boss and the most stylish rider I can think of. R Dog doing a huge no footed can and making it look as easy as a straight air. R Dog seems to dig as much as he rides. Groms if you want to be like someone, be like Ryan.
Before we break into the top five I want to thank every rider that picks up a shovel and gives the trails or jump some love. If you want your set up to look like Cobs or the Post Office you have to dig.

2008 Red Bull Rampage winner Brandon Semenuk took a trip down to Cali and has stayed for quite a while. I wanted to pack up and go home, but every run he kept giving me amazing pictures. I ended up packing in the pitch black, but it was worth it for this photo.

Mike Hoenisch does a huge tuck no hander on the big set at Post office. When I was shooting this, Black Market team rider Lisa Myklak showed up, she asked to see what I got and she was pumped, that's how I knew this one was a keeper. Mike is a ripper, I am impressed with his riding every time I see him on two wheels.

I was really happy with this edit but thought that the Pinkbike users would blow it over. Nearly 800 views and 60 favorites later it lands in #3. This was shot at Sand Hill Racing in Brent wood on the Dual Slalom. I will say this right now, Dual Slalom is way better than 4X and I think most mountain bikers agree with that so come on race organizers bring it back! I know it has an odd crop but when I was designing this image in my head this is what it looked like. So this was not a mistake shot that just turned out well.

Another image shot at the Post Office. I cannot for the life of me remember this guys name, but he was ripping his brakeless 20". I was really stoked on this shot for a few reasons, the first was that there was no one at the Post Office and just as I was leaving he showed up. Secondly this was my first day shooting with my Canon 40D and 70-200L lens. The rider was amazing, every run he would ask me what I wanted him to do, and every run he would not disappoint. If the rider is reading this, shoot me an email and I will put a name on this photo.
And now it's time for image #1:
Guy French is a mad man! Doing a huge one footed invert on the Post office hip. I really enjoy shooting with Guy, he is really easy going, he digs and is an amazing rider. Brad is pumped on it, are you?
The story image is of Jesse Nickel riding Cob's house. For not liking the jumps he rides them pretty well. That image lands on #11. There is one image that tops them all in views and favs, only because it made POD. But I really do not like it so that is why it is not in the top ten. If none of these images did it for you check out my album or my Web site for more images. Thank you too all the Pinkbike users that took notice to my work, I promise I will have more images and better images in 2009.
Thank you to all the riders, and all the diggers. Without you my art is not possible.

Nice work!
Just throwing out ideas mate, you can shoot however you want and I can't change that. I just think the twilight shots need to be way more exposure.
Thats why photography is a art and not a science.
i love number 9 , the composition and the pop of the blue top. that is how a photo should be
